   A wonderful opportunity to lead a vital and growing not-for-profit organization in Oregon’s beautiful Central Willamette Valley. We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled and experienced leader prepared to build on the impressive success of the prior executive director. The new executive director will play a central role in promoting new economic development and serving and growing the existing, strong business base.

Position Summary:

Oversees and manages all chamber activities, functions, staff and financial resources.

Reports to the Chamber Board and Executive Committee.

Develops and maintains strong working relationships with the business community, local government, and other non-profit organizations.

Plans, coordinates and executes fund raising activities and community events.

Enthusiastically works with all constituents and community members to promote a positive and vibrant community, appealing to business owners, employees, retirees and the area at large.

Work with the Chamber Board and members to implement a vital entrepreneurial training programs focusing on young professionals and the ‘new economy’.

Emphasize personal and professional development.

Required Qualifications:

At least 2 years’ experience as the CEO/manager/director or leader of a viable non-profit organization. OR

At least 5 years’ experience as a successful business owner active in a Chamber of Commerce  OR

At least 5 years’ experience as mid or upper level manager in state or local government.

Has or can obtain an Oregon Driver’s License.

Able to work and drive in the evenings.

Preferred Qualifications:

College Degree in relevant subject area.

Chamber of Commerce leadership experience, especially as an Executive Director/CEO

Professional designation such as a Graduate of the U.S. Chamber Institute (IOF), Accredited Chamber Executive, Certified Economic Developer, Certified Chamber Executive, or similar.

Salary and Benefits – A competitive package including:

Job Description

Job Title: Executive Director/ CEO

Reports to: Board of Directors

Job Summary

The Executive Director shall be the chief executive officer and serve as the secretary of the corporation. The Executive Director shall be responsible for; 1) the administration of the program of work in accordance with the policies and regulations of the Board of Directors; 2) the hiring, discharging, directing and supervising all Chamber employees; 3) the preparation of an operating budget covering all activities of the Chamber (subject to the approval of the Board of Directors); and 4) all expenditures within approved budget allocations. The Executive Director shall manage all Chamber functions, programs and events including working closely with government and private sector business owners and managers in order to enhance economic development as well as business retention and expansion.

Major Job Responsibilities

  1. Plan, organize, direct and administer all operations and employees of the Lebanon Area Chamber and Visitor’s Center (LCVC).
  2. Coordinate Committee meetings, provide support to Committee Chairs, and attend Committee meetings and activities as necessary.
  3. Solicit new LCVC members, follow up on new member prospects and strive to retain existing members.
  4. Manage all day to day affairs of the LCVC.
  5. Collect all revenues due to LCVC including member dues, proceeds from all activities/events and any other approved sources, and deposit the aforementioned revenues into the designated accounts.
  6. Under the guidance of the Tourism Committee; allocate, account for, and distribute funds as per the Tourism Agreement between the City of Lebanon and LCVC.
  7. Assist with and oversee efforts to obtain sufficient funding for all Chamber related events and services.
  8. Effectively communicate information regarding all Chamber and business-related events to the LCVC membership, and the community at large, including: monthly newsletters, event marketing, e-news, and the annual Chamber Guide.
  9. Work closely with the private sector and others to develop a targeted business recruitment, expansion and retention plan.
  10. Carry out all policies and procedures set by the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee.
  11. Attend Board and Executive Committee meetings. Provide timely notice of meetings, and coverage for minutes, P&L statements, balance sheets and other reports as requested by the Board and/or Executive Committee.
  12. Other duties as assigned by the LCVC Board or Executive committee.

Accountability – be accountable for all assets of the LCVC.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Training – Develop and administer proper training for the Executive Director and staff utilizing available resources, enabling staff to effectively perform their jobs while developing skills and abilities.

Performance Evaluations – Perform scheduled evaluations discussing clear and effective goals and performance plans to improve achievement.

Employee Accountability – Communicate effectively to employees, acknowledging good performance and addressing poor performance/behavior. (including all appropriate documentation.)

Leadership – Motivate employees and volunteers to willingly work to achieve high standards. Encourage paid staff and volunteers while coordinating their efforts, to achieve desired outcomes.

Safety – implementation of a safe work environment.

Community Relations – represents the LCVC professionally in the community acting as an ambassador.  Recognize that the Executive Director often works evenings and additional hours as needed.

Compensation Package

  1. Salary

$65,000 – 80,000 Annually

  • Insurance

Individual Medical Insurance provided and paid for by the LCVC after successfully completing the probationary period.

   3.Employer provided retirement fund match of up to 3% of salary.

  • Cell Phone

LCVC will pay monthly cell phone charges up to $40 per month.

  • Continuing Education may be paid in whole or in part but must be approved in advance by the Executive Committee.
